There's a full schedule of events coming up at Snow and Jones.
On Tuesday April 6th we are hosting an "Opening Day" cookout at our Plymouth branch. Come for a baseball themed lunch, a fast pitch contest, and plenty of prizes donated by Kohler and Weil-McLain. Red Sox tickets will be raffled off too, so don't miss out! The cookout runs 11:00am-2:00pm at 126 Long Pond Rd. in Plymouth.
On Wednesday April 7th we are hosting the President of Kohler's Faucet Division for cocktails/apps/and a custom shower training. We will be networking with local luxury designers/builders/architects and plumbers. If you are interested in attending this event, please email us.
We are also preparing to host two "Spa Days" with Grohe. We will be taking 8-10 customers to our showrooms for a catered breakfast, training on Grohe faucets, and then we will travel to a local spa for some pampering. We did this event a few years ago and it was a huge hit.
NARI Cape Cod has also been busy coordinating training for the EPA RRP Lead Certification classes. If you are a contractor of any type (building/HVAC/electrical/Plumbing) and work on homes built before 1978, you NEED this certification. Visit NARI Cape Cod to get more information and see the available spaces left.
Look for more updates on events as they come up. If you are looking for any specific trainings, don't hestiate to email or call!

2010 GasNetwork Rebates
The GasNetworks Residential 2010 rebates should be available in the next few weeks. These rebates are available for GasNetworks sponsor utility gas customers in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. Until the 2010 rebates are available, GasNetworks is honoring the 2009 rebates, so customers purchasing qualifying residential high efficiency equipment this month can submit the 2009 rebate.
Snow and Jones offers boilers, furnances, and water heaters that meet the requirements for these rebates. You can learn more about the available rebates by visiting http://www.gasnetworks.com/ or calling a Snow and Jones branch or your contractor to see what can be done in your home.

Universal Design- Do You Want It?
The building and remodeling industry is making a big push for Universal Design for residential construction. Universal Design is not "handicapped accessible" design. It is design to be accomdating for everyone and incorporates a more attractive design style. Then National Assocation of Home Builders and the MetLife Mature Market Institute surveyed mature homeowners and renters about what features they prefer.
Builders responded to the survery as well, citing lever-handles, wider doors and hallways, full bath on entry level floors, to be priority items. However, homeowners valued non-slip floors, larger storage, lower cabinets, and emergency call buttons.
Sandra Timmermann, director of MetLife Mature Market Institute, says that, "The data suggests that builders will have to be more tuned in to consumer needs, but potential buyers may be somewhat shortsighted as well."
We think that homeowners and builders alike need to be aware of their options, how it will affect their design, and budget, and listen to the needs being put out there. A full bath on the entry level is not just in case an elderly person needs it- your child may break a leg and getting her/him upstairs may be a challenge. Grab bars in showers do not have to look instiutional. Grab bars are great for women shaving, for children showering, and also for people as they get older. Kohler makes traditional, contemporary, and faucet-matching grab bars.
